A BETTER WORLD WITH GLF
GLF continues to grow, as does our influence and our responsibility for the environment, society and man. Our vision here at GLF is that we should be able to be a profitable company – where development must take place from a sustainable and long-term perspective, which protects the environment, society and people. We believe that developing in this way is the only right way. For 81 years we have existed and been dependent on a healthy environment to exist, we therefore want to do everything we can to help maintain a healthy environment for many, many more years. We understand the importance of responsible resource management, and sustainable pallets and packaging play a crucial role in our efforts to create a greener future.
Below you see two videos about biochemistry and how the forest industry contributes to climate benefits. You can read more about this here.

We use timber to manufacture our sustainable pallets and packaging. Waste materials, including chips and sawdust, are sold to the heat production plant. We manufacture almost half a million pallets for customers in various industries, e.g. manufacture of plastics, food, building materials and agricultural technology. Most of our packaging is produced for export. But this is not all – we recover and sell more sustainable pallets than we produce. Pallets that reach an end to useful life are mapped to the heat production plant to be burned and converted into heat energy.
Our premises are heated with heat generated by underground water. Simply put: Our heating / cooling comes from water that we draw from a depth of 45 meters and pump it to a depth of 85 meters. We use the same water to cool our premises in the summer as to heat the premises in the winter. It is so-called environmentally friendly air conditioning that does not involve the application of freons. Since 2003, we have also been environmentally certified according to ISO 14001.
We are members of Svenskt Returträ AB – an organization that solves issues concerning the manufacturer’s responsibility when it comes to wood packaging. Svensk Returträ proposes that the recycling of secondary raw material systems for wood products and sawmill industries should meet legal requirements regarding the manufacturer’s liability. A long-term goal is to create a recovery system for all wood products.
The KD / ISPM15 certificate improves the quality of packaging boxes and wooden packaging on the international market. We recommend that you buy certified boxes and wooden packaging for the export of goods that are to go outside the EU. More relevant information is available on the Swedish Board of Agriculture’s website.
Given that more and more customers asked about our environmental certification, we started our certification process to meet the ISO 14001 standard. We carried out the process in 2003 and have since worked in accordance with ISO 14001. A year later, we received our quality management certification in accordance with ISO 9001.
At the same time as we develop our products and continuously introduce improvements, we must also meet our customers’ needs and expectations. At the same time, we must minimize and prevent environmental pollution.
We must make a continuous effort to improve our work environment, prevent injuries, accidents at work, discrimination against employees and bullying.
Our defined goals, action plans and continuous improvements will improve our competitiveness.
We hold ISPM 15 standard.
The international standard ISPM 15 is an international agreement to prevent serious plant pests from spreading with wooden packaging through world trade. Pests that can threaten forests, but also trees in city parks and private gardens.
The standard ISPM 15 stands for International Standard of Phytosanitary Measures No. 15. It is an international standard. Many countries require that wooden packaging brought into the country must comply with ISPM 15. Sweden and the EU also require it through our plant protection rules. The ISPM 15 standard means that wooden packaging must be made of barked wood that has been treated against plant pests. In Sweden, wood is treated by heat treatment. In other countries, the wood can be treated by gassing. Both methods are approved according to the standard, but gassing with methyl bromide is not allowed in the EU.
